This last month has been something awful. One of my wife's best friends from college passed away unexpectedly at the age of 30 and we've been working on dealing with that. It's helped a lot to be in nature. We had had such a terrible Friday the other week that we called it short and ran to the forest. At some point, the sun came out and warmed us for what felt like the first time. It felt good—it felt calm.
We felt peace for the first time in weeks.
Sure, that peace didn't last and we're still fighting through this. But at least I can look at this photo and feel a semblance of that. Sometimes that's enough.
